Big Plans to Improve Play Areas in Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole
BCP Council has announced a major plan to improve children’s playparks and teenage skate areas across Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole. The aim is to replace old, worn-out equipment and create better spaces for young people to play.
This five-year plan will cost millions, with £3.9 million already set aside for the first phase. The council will use money from the Community Investment Levy, which is paid by property developers to improve local areas.
The plan has been supported by two local councillors, Cllr Sandra Moore and Cllr Andy Hadley, and will be discussed at a council meeting on December 10th.
What’s Happening?
Why Is This Important?
Cllr Moore says, "This is a really exciting project. No part of BCP will be left out. We want to make sure children have safe, fun places to play."
Cllr Hadley adds, "Play isn’t just about exercise. It helps children grow in confidence, make friends, and learn important life skills. Many families don’t have large gardens, so good public play areas are vital."
What’s Next?
The final funding decision is still waiting for full council approval, but if agreed, this will be a huge step forward for local families.
