It’s that time of year when the magazines tell us what we will or should be wearing Autumn/Winter 2010/11. The shops also give us a glimpse to try & tempt us to buy by displaying ‘New Season’ rails all neat & new looking, whilst along side hangs the unappealing remains of the summer stock.

Yet buying coats & winter woolies is like shutting the door & pulling the curtains on the summer. “Put the barbie away dear we are done for another year”.

As I write this sitting out on my patio with blue sunny skies above, I for one am not ready to pack away my FitFlops just yet!

Of course for readers on the other side of the globe this time of year marks the beginning of Spring/Summer. Though I cannot honestly say what will be ‘in’ in Oz or stylish in Sri Lanka – Sorry.

Trousers seem to be either tailored or wide leg, so say good bye to the weird carrot & low crotch harem style. Thank goodness!

Shearling is a word you cannot help but hear in fashion for Autumn/Winter 2010/2011, whether it’s boots, bags or the ever popular aviator style jacket. Along with plenty of faux fur. Ankle boots, especially lace ups seem to be a definite ‘do’ with varying heel heights. So no doubt leggings will stay, but look somewhat better inside a boot than they did full length with flatties.

And animal prints are said to be big news, no this is not the return of leopard or zebra, this is a picture of the actual animal on jumpers, blouses & so on. A bit Bridget Jones for my taste but I’m sure if you are young & lovely you will get away with it. Over the age of 20 I would  leave it alone or you may end up looking ‘special’ & I don’t mean in a good way!

50’s style elegance was all over the catwalks with designers Lanvin, Louis Viutton, Marc Jacobs & Nini Ricci all putting their own spin on it. Very feminine, very beautiful. So expect it to filter down to the high street.

If all this talk of winter is making you scream because you haven’t even had your summer holls yet then the ‘Fatal’ (interesting name?) from Wolford could be just what you are looking for.

Is it a skirt?   Is it a dress?   Is it a top?

Yes!             Yes!                Yes!

Amazingly what starts out as no more than a piece of fabric the size of a belt, stretches, blossoms & folds into various lengths of skirt, dress & or top. The fabric is light weight so presumably dries quickly, another plus if taking it away on holiday.

Borough of Poole is asking individuals, groups and other interested parties for their views on two important documents that set out the council’s preferred approach for shaping the town’s future development needs up to 2026.

The Poole Site Specific Allocations and Development Management Policies Development Plan Document (DPD) and Delivering Poole’s Infrastructure DPD form part of Poole’s Local Development Framework, a set of planning documents that will guide future development across the borough.

The documents put forward the council’s preferred approaches for assessing planning applications, reviewing existing policies, establishing a framework to provide the town’s infrastructure needs, as well as how future sites for development, including housing, will be identified.

The delivery of new homes and jobs over the coming years will see major growth in Poole. These documents will set out a plan of how the council plans to manage that change and demand.

Councillor Ron Parker, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Local Economy, Borough of Poole, said: "Poole will experience significant change over the period to 2026. This is an important consultation that will help to identify sites, policies and the infrastructure required to manage this change appropriately to enable Poole to prosper. This consultation gives people the opportunity to have their say and we want as many people as possible to get involved."

People interested in the future development of the town and how they can help shape the process can have their say from now until Monday 8 October 2010.

The documents and accompanying summary can be viewed online in the consultation section of this website, in any Poole library and at the Planning and Regeneration Services reception at the Civic Centre.

O2 today announces the launch of O2 Rugby Reunion, a nationwide initiative supported by the Rugby Football Union (RFU) to encourage players that have drifted away from rugby to get back involved and put a team together. Teams will be invited to take part in one or more of a series of touch rugby events across the UK, culminating in a finale event in London’s Regent’sPark on 12th September with a chance of meeting some of the current England Rugby team.

Aimed at reigniting players passion for rugby, O2 Rugby Reunion uses Facebook to reconnect players with their old teams and make it easy for them to start playing again. Using the specially created O2 Rugby Reunion Facebook application a captain can register a team and interest in a specific touch rugby event, send invites to friends and confirm attendance at the event(s) once a minimum of six team members have been recruited.

Teams can then opt to take part in either the ‘fun’ or ‘competitive’ category for their local event. Teams can also come along on the day and register.

O2 has teamed up with 2003 World Cup winner and current London Irish Attack Coach Mike Catt to help raise awareness of the campaign. Commenting on the initiative Mike Catt said: “As both a coach and past England player I truly believe in the importance of keeping young players in the game. Rugby is a fun, sociable sport for players and fans alike and I hope that through O2 Rugby Reunion more players can reunite with their old team mates and rediscover their love of the game.”

There will be six regional touch rugby events taking place throughout the country as follows:

· Newcastle, Ryton RFC – Saturday 24^th July

· London, Old Deer Park – Saturday 31^st July

· Bristol, Portway Centre – Saturday 7^th August

· Manchester, Broughton Park RFC – Saturday14^th August

· Coventry, Coundon Hall Park – Saturday 21^st August

· Bournemouth, Oakmedians RFC – Sunday 29^th August

The finale event then takes place at London’s Regent’s Park on Sunday 12^th September. Open to all, the event offers a day of rugby related fun for everyone including live music, a BBQ and a chance to meet some of the current England Rugby Team. Regional finalists in the competitive category will be invited to compete at the finale event in London’s Regent’s Park

The Play On campaign is supported by a network of O2 Pathfinders, over 1600 volunteers who guide players on their rugby journey by connecting them with clubs across the country.

FishyFishy is coming to Poole – it’s been an eager wait for the launch of the second FishyFishy restaurant on the south coast.

Headed up by celebrity TV presenter Dermot O’Leary and two of his best buddies, the new restaurant is billed as offering up a; ‘desirable, affordable and socially conscious place to eat’, and that place is on Poole’s Dolphin Quays.

A sneak preview at the pending menu shows that there is fabulous choice, focusing on the seasonal catch and relations with local businesses, yet it presents a real choice of dining options.

It is also very apparent that the team sticks to its mantra of ‘affordable’ and in comparison to some other waters’ edge and beach side restaurants in Poole the costs are very attractive indeed and should set a precedent – location, location, location doesn’t mean pricey, pricey, pricey! You do the math – fish and chips from FishyFishy – under a tenner!

Look forward to; seasonal channel fish and prawn curry with cardamom rice. Whole barbecue mackerel with new potatoes. Rope-grown mussel, roasted garlic, chilli and tomato pasta and channel sea bass with summer herbs and lime!

The restaurant is set to house 130 covers with stunning alfresco dining overlooking the marina and Brownsea Island serving fresh, local and seasonal seafood alongside traditional brasserie favourites.

The original FishyFishy that set the pace is in Brighton, it opened in 2009 and has a really high standard that the chaps promise to maintain in Poole!

Dermot said: "Opening our own restaurant was something we’d dreamed of for a long time before we launched last year (in Brighton) and we’re loving every minute of it!"

"We know there will be a lot of hard work involved in making a success of Poole and maintaining Brighton’s reputation, but we feel ready for the challenge and very fortunate to have the opportunity to do what we love in another town. We’re just happy that other people are enjoying FishyFishy as much as we are!"

FishyFishy will be a much-appreciated newcomer to Poole, after all it is time for some new kids on the block with a fresh outlook, attitude and frankly something for other dining establishments to sit up and take note of!
